If you happen to see me in the next few days please pinch me to make sure that I'm not dreaming but I think that I'm playing at the Midwest Music Summit in Indianapolis on August 11th, time and venue TBA. I'm looking forward to playing but maybe even more to listening to all of the great music that's going to be there.
Steam'n Koffee at 6PM on May 20th. That's in Council Bluffs, IA.
Going forward you can find this type of information on my new "SHOWS" page easily accessable via the menu link of the same name on the left. Good thing I made the "SHOWS" link image before I lost the hard drive that had the font I used for rest of the links. Otherwise it might look more like the new "FREE MUSIC" link.
Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeencoln - Nebraska, that is! So just forgive my obscure reference to the Mod Squad (no, not the movie but the original series), and come and see me at Crescent Moon Coffee at 7PM on April 27th followed by an open mic at 8.
Radio Promotion!
Thanks to Peter Hay at Twin Vision TWIMB has been added at over 40 AAA Radio stations. Of course I'm thrilled that some unsuspecting citizens are tuning in to their radios to have their minds twisted by the likes of Bigsville, Lullaby for Becky or Family of Man - and extremely grateful for everyone who's playing TWIMB.
Making some progress towards recording again.
Have so far endured an unbootable disk and a sound card who's manufacturer appears to have gone out of business - but I'm pretty sure I still have those drivers somewhere.
In the meantime, though, I'm visiting friends in Victoria and couldn't pass up a chance to play at the Spiral Cafe! Two sets, by golly - Saturday, February 4th at 8pm.
If I'm completely out of my head I may make them endure me Monday night at Steamers for "Monday Night Stage Fright" acoustic open stage.
Cafe Dodici! Saturday, December 10th, that is. Sometime after 8pm.
I'll be opening up for or trading short sets with Bill Bryant again, depending on how the evening goes. And just for fun, here's pdfs of the poster for Cafe Dodici and the poster for Uncommon Ground.
Just got added to the December Calendar at Uncommon Ground. Get to open up for Dick Prall and Jessica Sonner at a Loudcoffee Showcase on Sunday, December 18th. I start at 7 followed by Dick and Jessica at 8 and 9.
Oh, yeah and some picture from Madison, Bill and Russ at the Come Back In and Chris Burd on State street.
I'm honored that TWIMB was chosen to be one of Performing Songwriter magazine's top 12 DIY picks for the September/October issue. a small excerpt - "There’s more to this record than brilliant lyrics and sonic experiments. Arant has crafted a fantastic mixture of alt country and drama."
You had better get ready to mark up your calendar - I will be opening up for Iowa City songwriter Bill Bryant at the Come Back In in Madison, Wisconsin October 13th. It's "Your passport to fun". It even says so on their web site.
Oh yeah, and I have a new friend named Tom - check it out my space at My Space. Please! Anyone!!
Holy $#!+s! Finger picks! It's like a whole new guitar for $3. Anyway, had to share.
Got listed on the blog at the Directory of Free Music Downloads. Have to make some time to listen to some of the other stuff there. Is this a busy time of year or what?
Sefronia - "Chroniques musicales et des environs" - has posted a review by Jérôme Fiori of TWIMB. I think my favorite part (of the google translation) is: "Joel Arant, of a faded voice which can be moulted in falsetto, tells with obvious and simple words the hopes re-examined with the fall ("Bigsville"), and especially of the ruffled stories of love like papier-mâché. The women have the full powers there - destroying, they practise the scorched earth policy, and poor Arant is caught all napalm in the mug." I think that pretty well sums it up!
